The Golden Globe Awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The first Golden Globes Awards ceremony was held on January 20, 1944, at the 20th Century Fox studios. This year, the 2019 ceremony took place at The Beverly Hilton. This annual ceremony is telecasted to 167 countries worldwide. The awards are presented in the fields of both television and motion pictures. The motion picture awards were first presented in 1944. It is the third most-watched awards show each year, behind only the Oscars and the Grammy Awards. The night began with celebrities arriving at the red carpet with messages of solidarity for the Time's Up movement. Some wore black rubber bracelets while others wore pins referencing the group's campaign to double the number of women in leadership positions. Adam McKay’s biopic about Dick Cheney, “Vice” has received six nominations. Meryl Streep has received 31 Golden Globe nominations, making her the most nominated actor in the history of the award show. In November 2018, the HFPA unveiled the new design for the Golden Globe statue, which is made up of brass, zinc and bronze and weighs 7.8 lbs. Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh co-hosted the 2019 Golden Globes, the first people to host the ceremony were John Larroquette and Janine Turner in 1995. After that, the award show didn’t have another host until Ricky Gervais in 2010. The show had no host for 14 years. However, this year at Golden Globes red carpet 'Fiji Water Girl' photobombed quite a few celebrities and took over the paparazzi on a leash. (AFP)
