Kainaz Motivala was born and raised in Mumbai. She is currently married and stays with her husband Urvaksh Doctor in Singapore. However, it has not stopped her from coming back to her first love—Bollywood. ‘I think Mumbai is the best city in India, and I was privileged to grow up here because it gives you a global perspective and doesn’t restrict you to a narrow mind of thinking."

Kainaz Motivala owned quite a few birds while growing up. She always wanted a dog since she was a kid, but her parents weren’t ready to get her one. She had two lovebirds Hansel and Gretel, and she was very close to them. She used to feed them from her hand and play with them after she was back from school. But now she has two beautiful dogs—Chloe and Barney.

Kainaz’s sister Karishma Motivala is six years younger to her. In school, Kainaz was very protective about her sister. She use to keep a check on her sister, and made sure she ate her food on time.

Kainaz Motivala was never into sports, but as a kid she used to love playing in the sandpit and make sand castles. She learnt ballet and tap dance when she was in school.

Kainaz’s mother was always a working woman. “My mom gave me the idea that a woman should work for herself and not rely on her husband. Woman should be independent. My mother managed the house, kids and work when dad was not around. Now that I am married I realise how difficult that is! Women have it much tougher than men. They are expected to do a lot of things.” Kainaz devours on her mother’s food. Whenever she is in town, she prefers eating at home.
