Amitabh’s father Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a well-known poet, initially named his son Inquilaab, inspired by the slogan “Inquilab Zindabad”, which means “Long live the revolution”.

Later, Harivansh Rai Bachchan changed his son’s name to Amitabh after his friend and fellow poet Sumitranandan Pant suggested him to do so.
