One of the greatest actors of all time, Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7, 2021. He was 98. The country was devastated by the sad demise of Bollywood's superstar. In a career spanning over six decades, Kumar starred in iconic films and earned several accolades for his outstanding performances. He is survived by his wife Saira Banu. With the actress, Kumar co-starred in films such as 'Bairaag,' 'Sagina' and 'Gopi.'

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu's love story is no less than a fairytale. Saira was smitten by his charm at a very young age. She was only 12 when she fell in love with Bollywood's heartthrob Dilip Kumar. During the premiere of 'Mughal-e-Azam,' in 1960, a 16-year-old Saira was expecting to meet her crush for the first time. However, he didn't turn up for the event. It was a little later when the first encounter between the two finally happened.

In an interview, Saira Banu confessed her feelings for Dilip Kumar. She was quoted saying as "I was not just another girl smitten by Dilip Kumar. For me, it was no castle in the air because I had given my dream the strong foundation of faith- faith in myself and faith in God."

But destiny had other plans. Dilip Kumar fell in love with the renowned actress, Kamini Kaushal. They worked together in films such as 'Shaheed,' 'Nadiya Ke Paar,' 'Shabnam' and 'Arzoo.' Fans were in love with their on-screen chemistry. It was on the sets of 'Shaheed,' when their love blossomed and they were even planning to marry each other. However, rumour has it that Kamini's brother was against the relationship. Besides, Kamini was already married to her late sister's husband to take care of her child because of which it was difficult for her to move out.
