National Award winning actress Uttara Baokar dies at 79 in Pune

Uttara Baokar, veteran film and television actress, passed away at the age of 79 in Pune. She was suffering from a prolonged illness. As per reports, Uttara’s last rites were performed on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. She ventured into films with Shyam Benegal’s ‘Yatra’ and Govind Nihalani’s ‘Tamas.’ Uttara Baokar was known for her performances in films such as ‘Rukmavati Ki Haveli,’ ‘Doghi,’ ‘Sardari Begum,’ ‘Thakshak,’ ‘Dor,’ ‘Vaastupurush,’ ‘Aaja Nachle,’ ‘Lessons in Forgetting,’ ‘8 x 10 Tasveer’ and ‘Samhita,’ among many others. She also won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Mrinal Sen’s ‘Ek Din Achanak.’ (All pictures: Instagram)
