There have been countless cases of legal battles between actors and production houses over the issue of signing amounts for films that fail to materialise. Saif Ali Khan, however, took an unprecedented step by returning the remuneration - a whopping Rs 11 crore - to Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision for a film that he signed three-and-a-half years ago.

Saif's friend explained, "Ashtavinayak were on a signing spree three- four years ago. It was to the extent that they had practically all the top actors signed for films under their banner. Many films were in the pipeline and many were under production as well. Saif and Ashtavinayak have for a long time talked of working together."
