1940s- Madhubala, famous for her role in Mughal-e-Azam, is considered one of the most beautiful actresses of Indian cinema. Madhubala had her own way of wearing a saree. Her saree was of a light colour with a soft fabric. The pallu was either tucked to her right waist, or left free. The trend of full length anarkali suits was also started by her.

1940s- Nargis is famous for her role in Mother India, and also for bringing in new dressing styles. Her closed neck plain blouses with a printed saree and cotton sarees were a huge hit, making her a new trendsetter of Bollywood.

1960s- Saira Banu was beautiful as well as stylish. She wore extremely tight fitting sarees that were tied below the waist. Along with sarees, she also wore skirts and dresses which became a huge trend. Her winged eyeliner was also popular.
