On award returnee brigade, Indian actress Vidya Balan said, “This honour (the award) is by the nation and not the Government. So I do not want to return it.” She had won the National award for the ‘best actress’ for her performance in the movie The Dirty Picture in 2012.

Madhur Bhandarkar blamed award returnee brigade for selective activism. He said, “There cannot be cherry picking on any issue. This is selective target, activism.
