In another big-ticket deal involving a Bollywood personality, actor Ranbir Kapoor purchased a sprawling apartment in Pali Hill for Rs 35 crore. The transaction works out to be an eye-popping Rs 1.42 lakh per square feet, the biggest recorded transaction in the suburbs based on rate per sq ft. The 2,460 sq ft flat is on the seventh floor of Vastu Pali Hill , a recently constructed luxury building in the upmarket residential enclave. Ranbir's flat comes with two parking slots. The 12-storey tower is also close to the Kapoors' Krishna Raj bungalow.

Estimated at a worth of around Rs 4500 crore, the iconic 400,000 square foot residential building - Antilia belongs to the chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani. Located in Altamount Road in Mumbai, Antilia has a health spa, parking space for 168 cars, multiple swimming pools, a yoga studio, nine elevators in the lobby and a floor with vehicle maintenance facility.

Laxmi Mittal's residence at 18-19 Kensington Palace Gardens-which was purchased from Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone in 2004 for 57 million pounds (US$128 million)- made it the world's most expensive house at the time. The house is decorated with marble taken from the same quarry that supplied the Taj Mahal. The extravagant show of wealth has been referred to as the "Taj Mittal".
