Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh passed away at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on October 10, 2011. He was 70. Jagjit Singh was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on September 23, 2011, after he suffered brain haemorrhage. He underwent two surgeries and was on life support.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, one of India's greatest cricket captains ever, passed away at Sir Ganga Ram hospital in Delhi on September 22, 2011. He died due to respiratory failure leading to cardiac arrest. He was 70. The cricketer, whose flair and acumen inspired a generation of cricketers, was diagnosed with a debilitating lung infection - idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis - at Sir Ganga Ram hospital few months ago. Renowned sarangi maestro and singer Ustad Sultan Khan passed away due to kidney failure on November 27, 2011. A close family friend revealed that he was undergoing dialysis for the last four years and speech failed him in his last days. He expired on his way to the hospital.
