Meet Amit Khanna, who discovers the boldest side of his subjects

Amit Khanna is a Mumbai-based filmmaker and an avid fashion photographer. He also happens to be the sole holder of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke excellence award in the field of fashion photography. His latest offering, which is a LGBTQ community-based series, has already spread its global wings at the recent 71st Cannes film festival. Amit has not only written and directed the series but has acted in it as well. He made his acting debut with the first season, which also received rave reviews as well as international acclaim. Do you remember the very first shoot that you did and with whom? How did it go, what was going through your mind?

Well, the first photoshoot I ever did was of my cousin sister, Anshu Gautam, as she has always been a part of my various and crazy experiments, I remember I bought a new DSLR in 2009 and just kept clicking on automatic mode, to begin with, It was an awesome experience as I shot her all over south Mumbai, Chowpatty beach, Hanging garden etc, I just realised that very day itself that nothing makes me happier than clicking, Photography it had to be.

Do you have any role model, who and why?

I admire a lot of people and try and learn from various directors but my role model is Priyanka Chopra cause I truly feel she is extremely hard-working, talented and level-headed and she has done a lot as an artist to put India on the global front through the work she has created immense value.

If invited, would you go to the Bigg Boss House? If yes, what will be your strategy?

I would never go to Bigg Boss as I cannot live in one place for long, neither would I like to put myself through that torture, Kudos to people who play Bigg Boss I don’t think I have that kind of a willpower.

So, how was your journey so far, can you describe the craziest thing you did on the sets?

My journey has been extremely fun-filled and I am happy how life has been shaping up, the craziest moment has to be when I slapped my co-star Ankit Bhatia multiple times while filming Still about section 377 and after every slap burst out laughing, so I would get more takes to slap him.
