Nando
Parrado was one of the sixteen survivors of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571,
which crashed in the Andes Mountains on October 13, 1972. After spending two
months in minus zero degree temperature, he along with Roberto Canessa decided
to climb through the Andes Mountains to find help. After 10 days of trekking,
they were spotted by a farmer who helped them. The rescue team saved the remaining
stranded people with Parrado’s help.
