Amjad Khan is best remembered for his villainous roles. The actor has worked in over 130 movies in his cinematic career spanning almost 20 years. The success of the movie 'Sholay' and the character Gabbar Singh from the movie was such a huge hit that Amjad Khan was signed as a brand embedder in a biscuit-making company. He was the first villain to be cast in an ad film.
Amjad Khan was born on November 12, 1940, into a Muslim family of Pashtun in Peshawar, Pakistan. He was one of the three brothers—Imtiaz Khan and Inayat Khan.
Amjad Khan did his schooling at St. Andrew's High School. For higher studies, Khan completed his higher studies at R. D. National College. The actor was involved in campus politics and was the general secretary of the elected student body.
At seventeen, Amjad Khan played a brief role in 'Ab Dilli Dur Nahin' (1957), followed by 'Maya' (1961), in which he shared the screen with his father.
Amjad Khan assisted K Asif on 'Love And God', but the movie was left incomplete due to Asif's death in 1971. Meanwhile, Khan participated in theatre.
