Superstar of Telugu Cinema Mohan Babu, enjoys a huge fanbase courtesy his stylized dialogue delivery and diction. In a career spanning over 40 years, Mohan Babu has acted in over 500 films in a variety of roles that made him a favourite among cine-lovers. He is also known for for his long association with the late NT Rama Rao and had also campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The Telugu actor and producer joined the party in 1982. He left the TDP and stayed away from politics after NT Rama Rao's demise. Later, he joined the YSR Congress Party in 2019 and also campaigned for YS Jaganmohan Reddy in becoming CM of Andhra Pradesh.
Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu, also popularly known as Mohan Babu, was born on March 19, 1952, to Manchu Narayanaswamy Naidu and Manchu Lakshmamma in Modugulapalem, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The actor grew up with three younger brothers, Manchu Ranganatha Chowdary, Manchu Ramachandra Chowdary, Manchu Krishna and sister Vijaya. He finished primary schooling from Yerpedu village and attended the S.P.J.N.M. High School in Tirupati. Mohan Babu was actively involved in school plays from the age of fourteen. However, his father was keen on his son pursuing an academic career.
Being the eldest son of the retired school headmaster, the actor obeyed his father and acquired a degree in Physical education from the Y.M.C.A. College of Physical Education in Chennai. Then he began his career as a Physical education instructor at the Y.M.C.A. college for several years.
Mohan Babu's love for art and cinema drew him closer to his dreams when he went on an expedition to studios based in Chennai, searching for opportunities. In 1969, Mohan Babu got an opportunity to work with director Lakshmi Deepak as an apprentice, marking his entry into the Telugu film industry.
