My Autograph (2006): The movie, which is the official remake of the Tamil film Autograph, saw Sudeep in the role of Shankar is his first movie as a director. The film unfolds with Shankar boarding a train to his native village where he was brought up, to invite his childhood friends for his wedding. As he travels to his village, he recalls fond memories in his school, fights with his friends, his first love Kamala and how he shifts to the city to pursue his career. In the end, he marries a girl who is selected by his parents.

No,73 Shanthi Nivasa (2007): In his second film as a director, Sudeep also played the role of a cook, Raghu, who enters a house which is filled with self-centered people. Shankar tries to change the mentality of the people by teaching moral values. The film also has Ramesh Bhat, Anu Prabhakar, Deepa Bhaskar, Chitra Shenoy and Komal in important roles. Kempegowda (2011): Sudeep played the titular role Kempegowda which is the remake of the Tami film Singham. Kempegowda is a tough cop who works in a North Karnataka Taluk. He gets transferred to Benglauru because of the influence of extortionist Armugam. Kempegowda takes it up as a challenge and punishes Arumugam as per the law. The film saw Ragini and Sudeep sharing screen space for the second time. The project also has Ravi Shankar Girish Karnad, Prashanth, Ashok Kheni and J Karthik in the supporting cast.
