Bollywood seems to have really taken a fancy to Gujarat of late. And it’s not only the beautiful landscapes or Gujarati characters getting applause on the big screen, but last year also saw Gujarati musicians taking big strides towards the silver screen. This Amdavadi boy made it to the Oscars. Aditya Gadhvi hit the headlines when he was shortlisted for the Best Original Song for Oscars 2014. Though his numbers didn’t make it to the Oscars final list, getting his name etched on the big O-list is in itself a pretty big achievement.

She has been the brightest Gujarati export to B-Town in recent times. With a sensuous Ram Chahe Leela to her credit, Bhoomi Trivedi is definitely one to look out for. From being a contestant at Indian Idol 5, a stint as an RJ and now a playback singer, she has come a long way. While this is only the beginning, this confident singer seems to have a bright future.

Keerthi Sagathia has been a regular in the A R Rahman camp for a while now. Son of legendary Gujarati folk singer, Karsan Sagathiya, Keerthi made his name with Nakkadwale Disco (Delhi Belly) and from then on went to give popular numbers like Sweety Tera Pyaar, Beera (Raavan), Rabba (Fukrey) Bharat Mata Ki Jai (Shanghai), and Tum Tak (Raanjhanaa).

Folk singer are a league of their own and their expertise can hardly be doubted. Osman Mir, a popular Gujarati folk singer, has already made a mark with his impeccable notes and various hit numbers. But it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela - Ram-Leela song Mor Bani Thangat Kare, that put him on the national map.
