Bengaluru bids adieu to Ganesha in style

With Ganesha Habba marking the beginning of this year’s festivals, the visarjane of idols in city lakes have also come under the spotlight once again. Ulsoor Lake was abuzz with prayers, chants, music and enthusiasm on September 2, as Ganesha idols were brought in for immersion. While the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had issued directives to reduce the use of Plaster of Paris (POP) idols in the city, a peek into the visarjane rituals show how much POP is still being used in making the statues.
