Preparation of Narkasur across Goa

On the eve of Diwali, the streets of Go were donned with effigies of Narkasurs. At midnight these Narkasurs are burnt marked by Narkachaturdashi. It was a tradition many years ago that Narkasurs were made of all the hay collected after the fields were harvested. Over the years, as Goans evolved and started getting creative, these structures were replaced with metal rods. Krishna Mane and his family from Bicholim have been making these structures of bamboos and selling them.
