The man who redefined fashion in India did not begin his career as a designer. Manish Malhotra, one of the biggest names in fashion, started as a model before he realised his passion for movies and fashion. The mogul soon delved into costume designing and has just recently completed 30 years in the industry. Filmfare presented him with the 'Award of Honour' for 30 Years of Outstanding Contribution to Bollywood Fashion. Even with no professional education in the field, the designer one of the most sought-after among fashion enthusiasts everywhere, "I couldn't afford to go abroad and study fashion. I'm completely self-taught. I used to sit and sketch for hours." In 2018, he launched his Haute-Couture makeup brand, his own production house, and was invited to join the Oscars Academy Council. Malhotra even made his debut at Cannes the same year, adding yet another milestone to his ever-growing list of achievements. Having completed 15 years of his label, the couturier only looks to expand his brand, "Life changes. For me today, it's all about my label. I want to start a diffusion line, I want to open stores worldwide, I want to expand the avenues of my label." (Photo credits: Instagram)
