Tyra Banks was born to mother, Carolyn London-Johnson, a medical photographer and father, Donald Banks, a computer consultant on December 4, 1973, in Inglewood, California. She has an elder brother, Devin. Banks was six-years-old when her parents divorced. She attended John Burroughs Middle School and graduated in 1991 from Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles. Banks had a tough time while growing up as she was teased for her appearance and considered an 'ugly duckling'. At the age of fifteen, she began her career as a model; being the first African-American descent, she appeared thrice on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. From 1997 to 2005, Tyra was a 'Victoria's Secret Angel'. She was one of the world's top-earning models by the early 2000s. She began acting on television in 1993. In 2003, Banks created several reality shows. Banks published a young adult novel titled 'Modelland' which topped The New York Times Best Seller list in 2011. (Photos: Instagram)
