Fashion’s biggest night out: Met Gala’s most prominent looks

The Met Gala is a yearly fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. This Met Ball marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Often referred to as fashion's biggest night out—is considered "the jewel in New York City's social crown". The Gala was founded in 1948 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, which is currently chaired by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine. Each year the Costume Institute exhibition celebrates a theme, which sets the tone for the formal dress of the night. The guests have to dress accordingly to match the theme of the exhibit. The Gala event takes place on the first Monday of May every year, and the guests attend on an invitation-only basis, and the museum is closed to the general public on this day. The Met Gala is the premier annual red-carpet event for fashion fraternity. The Met Ball is widely photographed, reviewed, critiqued and emulated. The 2020 Met Gala, which was initially supposed to take place on the 4th of May, is postponed indefinitely due to Covid-19 pandemic.
