Five terrorists killed in Kashmir encounter

At least five terrorists were killed by the security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. According to reports, a cordon-and-search operation was launched after a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Sugoo area of Shopian. As soon as terrorist came across the security forces, they opened fire and tried to flee from the area. In retaliation, security forces gunned down two terrorists in the initial exchange of fire. Three more terrorists were killed after security forces zeroed in on their hideout. This is the third major encounter in Shopian in four days. Nine Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including a self-styled commander, were killed in two gun battles with the security forces on Sunday and Monday.
