Lalu has already been found guilty by a special CBI court and sentenced to prison terms in three other fodder scam cases. This fourth case is to do with fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from the treasury of Dumka, which is now in Jharkhand, but was in Bihar when Lalu was chief minister.

The RJD supremo is currently lodged in the Birsa Munda prison in Ranchi where he is serving a 13.5-year jail term. He was admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences after he fell ill while in jail.

Hearing in this fourth fodder scam case was wrapped up on March 5 but the judgment was repeatedly delayed as Lalu filed several pleas. In addition to Mishra, 29 others, including former IAS officers and animal husbandry officials, were also accused in the case.
