Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh passed away in Singapore. He was 64 and hospitalised for a long time due to health issues. Reportedly, Amar Singh was in ICU and his family was by his side. He had suffered kidney failure in 2013. Despite his poor health, Amar Singh was active on social media and had tweeted a tribute to freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary and also wished Eid Al Adha to his followers. Once known as a prominent politician, Amar Singh's clout declined after he left Samajwadi Party and floated his out political unit. He was also once known as SP chief Mulayam Singh’s close confidante. In 2010, Amar Singh had resigned from all positions in Samajwadi Party.
