Addressing a press conference after the survey, the minister announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the victims of the flood. "The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for victims of the flood," he said. Rajnath took stock of Kaziranga, Nagaon and Morigaon, some of the worst-affected areas in Assam.

Briefing media about the situation, Rajnath said that NDRF and SDRF teams are on the job and around 60 boats have been deployed for rescue operations. Describing the situation in the state as 'grim', he also appealed country's NGOs to come forward and help the victims.
