Indu Jain, chairman of the Times Group, attained nirvana due to Covid-related complications at 9:35 pm on May 13, 2021. A lifelong spiritual seeker, distinguished patron of the arts, pioneering philanthropist and passionate proponent of women's rights, Indu Jain had a zest for life, youthful spirit and belief to make the world a better place. Tributes poured in for her from spiritual kings, statesmen, business leaders, friends and umpteen others, who fondly remembered her. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the demise of Indu Jain and tweeted, "Saddened by the demise of Times Group Chairperson Smt. Indu Jain Ji. She will be remembered for her community service initiatives, passion towards India’s progress and deep-rooted interest in our culture. I recall my interactions with her. Condolences to her family. Om Shanti." President Ram Nath Kovind also tweeted, "In the demise of Smt Indu Jain, Chairperson of Times Group, we lost a unique media leader and a great patron of art & culture. She left her special imprint in the areas of entrepreneurship, spirituality & philanthropy. Condolences to her family, friends and admirers." Indu Jain was born on September 08, 1936 in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. She was the founder president of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), established in 1983. In 1999, Indu Jain became the chairman of the Times Group and evolved a distinctive leadership style, which was characterised by compassion and inclusiveness, that took the group to new heights. From 1999, she also served as chairperson of Bharatiya Jnanpith Trust and set up the Times Foundation in 2000. Indu Jain also addressed the UN at Millenium World Peace Summit in 2000. In 2003, she launched Oneness Forum, which seeks to promote unity in the world. In 2016, Indu Jain was conferred with the Padma Bhushan. In 2018, Indu Jain was honoured with Lifetime Contribution to Media by AIMA and in 2019, she was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award by the ICSI.
