Never stop working hard, remember efforts never go in vain.' Every time things start going downhill, these words by Amna ma'am start ringing in my ears and act like the fuel I need to restart and get back on track. When people say a guru plays a crucial role in shaping an individual, I couldn't agree more. For me this teacher has been Amna Ma'am. She has shown faith and trust in me at times when I doubted myself. She forced me to push my limits and realise my potential at the same time making me believe that failure is not something to be looked down upon. She taught me how educational qualifications is not what makes you rise above but your values do. The life lessons taught by her are going to be cherished by me forever. - Surbhi Guleria

A nation’s greatest wealth is its youth. My mentor, teacher and best friend C Kiran, who is an associate professor at my college understands the importance of nurturing and guiding young people. Despite having in-depth knowledge in electronics, instrumentation and physics – he has three masters and a PhD from the US -- he decided to devote his time in helping students become better individuals. If his workload was not enough, he additionally teaches ethics, entrepreneurship and design. He has made an impact on thousands of students. From him I learnt that to be something great we must stay humble and empathize with people. I will be a great asset to the nation someday, and it’ll be because of you sir. -- Tejas S Shah, B Tech student

My guru in life is Ashwin Sir. It has only been two years with him but the connection I share with him, I feel like he has been with me in my life for many years. The lesson I learnt from him is his patience. He is always calm and composed, under different situations, and he has taught me to stay calm in situations and tackle them effectively. -- Taha Gladly, student

My father is my guru though, it is unfortunate, that we do not get to do much together as we both live in different countries. But we love each other immensely. I remember I once shared an incident with him where my friends tried to bully me and I stopped speaking to them. He told me no matter what, some people never change but I shouldn’t take things personally and try to forgive them and let things go. He also told me, no matter what happens, you should never make someone feel insignificant and left out. If they have something to say, hear them out. A time will come when you too will be in their shoes. How shall you be treated then will be determined by how you treat others now. -- Syed Wahab, student

It was in class 9, sitting across a table in the biology lab, that my teacher and I first started dissecting my career options. There was a spark in Venu Gopal sir’s eyes that I had not seen before as he persuaded me to study Medicine. This became my dream. Even as I struggled through financial issues and mental anxiety, sir encouraged me. Though he taught me only for a year, he continues to guide me. In my +2 now, I still rush to him with my doubts. I don’t have anything to gift him this Teacher’s Day, except this tribute and the hope that ‘his daughter’ will be a doctor soon. - G Swathi Sri, Inter student
