Lockdowns across different countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic may have provided temporary relief to the environment. But with an increase in the number of gloves and masks used in these trying times, the management of biomedical waste seems to be one of the main threats to the oceans. These masks and gloves are not biodegradable or recyclable. Several organisations are concerned that these items will be disposed off in the oceans harming the marine life. While some water bodies have become dumping grounds, some have been untouched and have managed to remain clean and serene over the years.
