American multimedia artist Trina Merry uses her impeccable skills to highlight existing problems in society such as gender identity, equality and body image. The camouflaged human canvases can easily trick any passerby. “I love working with the human body as my surface because my paintings are alive—they have breath, a heartbeat, a twinkle in the eye. Bodypaint creates a special connection to a person that other visual art forms have trouble accomplishing; it’s a distinctly human experience," she said in an interview. She studied at the Watermill Center, which is a center for the arts and humanities and then went on to specialise in body art installations. Trina Merry is one of the most celebrated body painting artists. She has won several awards and accolades including the International Fine Art Bodypainting Association Appreciation Award and RAW Artist’s Visual Artist of the Year.
