Hurricane Ida leaves trail of destruction across Louisiana

Hurricane Ida wreaked havoc in Louisiana as it caused widespread flooding and power outages. Hundreds of homes were damaged by the gushing winds. According to reports, more than one million customers in Louisiana were without electricity. The flooded roads and other obstacles worsened the situation for employees of electricity companies, who were trying to assess and repair downed transmission lines and other damage. The authorities has intensified the relief operations in the affected areas. A government official said that hundreds of flood victims are living in shelter homes. So far, the authorities confirmed four deaths due to Hurricane Ida. The crews have begun fanning out in boats and off-road vehicles to search communities cut off by the giant storm. A man was also missing after apparently being killed by an alligator.
