Indonesia: These pictures show the devastation caused by flash floods

The death toll crossed 160 as the flash floods and landslides wreaked havoc in Indonesia and East Timor. Dozens of houses were swept away and hundreds of people are still missing in the affected areas. Authorities intensified the rescue operations and shelters, medicines and foods are being arranged for thousands of people in the neighbouring Southeast Asian nations. Indonesia's disaster management agency has recorded 164 deaths so far. The death toll may surge as more bodies are being recovered from the debris. Waimatan resident Onesimus Sili said floods destroyed his community before anyone knew what happening. "Around midnight, we heard a very loud rumbling sound and we thought it was a nearby volcano erupting," he told AFP. "By the time we realised that it was a flash flood, the houses were already gone," he added.
