Pictures of sad devotees sitting outside closed churches amid Coronavirus lockdown

Christians across the world are commemorating Jesus' crucifixion without the solemn church services or emotional processions of past years as they mark Good Friday on April 10, 2020 in a world locked down by the coronavirus pandemic. Pictures of sad devotees visiting the closed churches are doing the rounds on the internet. This year, religious sites are closed as authorities try to prevent the spread of the virus. Churchgoers have been told to stay home and remember Jesus' suffering through family prayers, fasting and by watching masses and religious shows on TV or online. Pictures of priests holding rituals at their respective churches were live streamed enabling followers to join prayers sitting at their homes. In Kerala, on Good Friday, no public veneration of the Cross or Way of the Cross would be held, the Church has said. Mass held on Good Friday symbolizes the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Calvary Hills nearly 2,000 years ago.
