These images capture the havoc wreaked by floods and landslides in Brazil

Massive floods and landslides left more than 100 people dead and thousands of people homeless in the Pernambuco state of Brazil. The state capital Recife and its metropolitan area witnessed the maximum casualties, the rescue team said. According to the police, at least 16 people are still missing, among them, 14 were buried by landslides and two were swept away by the floodwaters. The authorities are carrying out the evacuation drive in the affected areas. More than 6,000 residents were evacuated so far. Although, the heavy rain disrupted the evacuation drive intermittently on Tuesday. There is apprehension of new landslides and floods in the area. Most of the municipalities in Pernambuco have declared a state of emergency. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced a package of 1 billion reals (nearly $210 million) for the reconstruction of the affected areas.
