24-year-old PV Sindhu has created history as she defeated World No 5 Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, 21-7, 21-7 in the 2019 BWF World Championships final. With the support of her family and coach Pullela Gopichand, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is one of the most successful athletes in India and around the world. “Honestly, I was expecting a long battle, given Okuhara’s reputation. But, I am glad that I could peak at the right time and never really let the lead slip away. I never felt any pressure before entering what was my third final. I just wanted to give my best shot and didn’t bother whether I would win or not when the final started," said Sindhu in her post-match interview.
