In Saina's absence, PV Sindhu will lead the Indian women's challenge. The tall Indian has got a tough draw as she is playing top seed and reigning world champion Carolina Marin of Spain in the first round. World No. 1 Carolina is leading the head-to-head record 3-2 but to Sindhu's advantage, she edged out Carolina last month in the Denmark Open. Sindhu must be hoping to nail Carolina again, particularly after an early exit in the China Open where she lost in the second round to Wang Shixian.
