In a surprise move, Mumbai all-rounder and former India player Ajit Agarkar took the first flight available from Cuttack and flew straight back home after being told in the team meeting the previous night (Monday) that he won't be a part of the playing XI in the elite Group A Ranji Trophy match against Orissa, which began on November 29, 2011.

Agarkar says, "After playing for Mumbai for 15 years, I won't be wrong in saying that I deserve a little courtesy and respect. There's a way of doing things."

"If I wasn't a part of the team management's scheme of things, they could have informed me in Mumbai itself. It made no sense in taking me all the way to Cuttack and telling me after two days that I won't be playing," Agarkar told TOI, on his arrival in Mumbai.

Numerous theories were doing the rounds after Agarkar chose to fly back. One of them said the 33-year-old had abused and asked a junior cricketer to get out of his sight after he was told to join the team bus on Tuesday morning.
