Ashwin made a return to
India's Test XI during the recent three-day defeat to England
at Old Trafford,
scoring 40 and 46 not out but going wicketless across 14 overs bowled.
On Monday, the 27-year-old was announced as the leading Test allrounder
in the latest ICC rankings. Old Trafford was Ashwin's first Test match
since December in South Africa before he lost his place as the Indian
cricket team's preferred spinner to Ravindra Jadeja.
