Even pacer Jayadev Unadkat's five-wicket burst could not stop West Indies 'A' -- riding on Kirk Edwards' fiery century -- from inflicting a 45-run defeat on India 'A' as they clinched the three-match one-day series 2-1 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

Edwards made a mockery of the Indian bowling to muscle his way to a run-a-ball 104 as Windies raced to a formidable 312 for nine in their 50 overs after being invited to bat on a surface that had some bounce. India, despite lusty shot-making from opener Baba Aparajith (78) and skipper Yuvraj Singh (61), could only muster 267 for eight.

The hosts were dealt a big blow when Robin Uthappa, who scored 23 and 10 runs in the last two outings, managed 27 this time around before an error of judgment cost him his wicket. He pushed a ball to mid-on for a quick single but a direct throw from Andre Fletcher found him short of his mark. Naman Ojha too departed soon after.

Reduced to 46 for two, Aparajith and Yuvraj added 112 runs from 117 balls for the third-wicket but thereafter the hosts lost too many quick wickets. Off-spinner Ashley Nurse virtually killed the competition by removing Yuvraj with a clever delivery.

Left-arm spinner V Permaul then got into the act and his timely breakthroughs saw West Indies take control of the match. Right-arm pacer Miguel Cummins too chipped in with two wickets. Towards the end, Vinay Kumar scored 37 runs off 38 balls but that only reduced the deficit.
