Sri Lankan cricketer Ajantha Mendis has retired from all forms of cricket. International cricketing body ICC took to Twitter to share the news. "Ajantha Mendis has retired from all forms of cricket! The Sri Lankan spinner took 288 wickets for his country across the three formats," ICC tweeted. The 34-year-old began his career in international cricket in 2008. Unfortunately, Mendis suffered several injuries through his cricketing career. He played his final game for Sri Lanka in 2015. Former captain Angelo Mathews praised Mendis on social media for his contribution, he wrote, "Congratulations menda on a short but great career. Unfortunately, injuries kept u away but god is kind and will open plenty of avenues to you. Stay blessed brotha." Mendis, who is known for his unorthodox bowling style, has featured in 87 ODIs and 39 T20Is picking up 152 and 66 wickets respectively. Apart from playing for the Sri Lankan national team, Mendis is also known for his stint in the Indian Premier League with Kolkata Knight Riders. (Photos: Instagram)
