With over 2000 applications for the post of the Indian cricket team's head coach, BCCI has shortlisted six candidates. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) led by Kapil Dev will interview the six short-listed candidates— Ravi Shastri, Mike Hesson, Tom Moody, Robin Singh, Lalchand Rajput and Phil Simmons on August 16, 2019. The current head coach Ravi Shastri played for the Indian team from 1981 and 1992. He began his career as a spin bowler but later he went on to become a batting all-rounder. He was appointed as the head coach in 2017.
