Alex Morgan was the hero of the FIFA Women's World Cup match between USA and Thailand as she scored five goals on June 11, 2019. The women's football team scored 13-0 against Thailand. While people were praising the team's effort, there were some who 'criticised' the goals on social media. 2015 World Cup winner Abby Wambach defended the team, she wrote, "For all that have issue with many goals: for some players this is there first World Cup goal, and they should be excited. Imagine it being you out there.This is your dream of playing and then scoring in a World Cup. Celebrate.Would you tell a men’s team to not score or celebrate?" She also praised Alex Morgan's performance, she said, "With all due respect: did you see @alexmorgan13 last two goals and her last assist?!!! They were world class. And this isn’t rec league soccer. This is THE WORLD CUP!!!!!!!!! Stop judging these women with patriarchal glasses. You would never say this about a men’s team. Period." After the massive victory, captain of the American team, Megan Rapinoe said, “We have the utmost respect for everyone we play but it's the World Cup and that's part of it.
