Riding on the brilliant knock by Kohli, Bangalore got to the victory-mark with three deliveries to spare even though the result did not change the positions of both the teams in the points table. Kohli's unbeaten knock came off 58 balls and was studded with 7 sixes and 8 fours.

Chasing a stiff 192-run target, Bangalore got off to a sedate start with Kohli and Lokesh Rahul putting up a 94-run opening stand. Kohli played brilliantly reaching his 50 off 31 balls and Rahul looked good to get to his half-century before IPL debutant Adam Zampa's double-strike rattled the Bangalore innings.

Zampa first had Rahul (38) caught by George Bailey in the covers and in the same over had AB de Villiers caught by Thisara Perera at long-off to place Bangalore at 97/2 in 12 overs. Shane Watson then came up with a vintage allround performance smashing 2 sixes and 5 fours in his 13-ball 36 before he was trapped plumb in front of the wicket by RP Singh.

But it was Kohli all the way who notched up another brilliant unbeaten knock in a run chase in his trademark style. The acceleration that Kohli gave to his knock can be gauged from the fact that he reached his fifty off 31 balls and the century off 56 balls to become the only captain to hit two centuries in a single IPL season and the icing on the cake was that this resulted in his team's victory unlike the previous one against Gujarat Lions.
