In no time, the internet became obsessed with her. Deepika Ghose garnered a lot of attention with her cheerful nature at the stands and 'girl in red' began to trend on social media.

With fame came abuse and mental torture. Deepika Ghose's popularity resulted in abuse and shaming on social media for her. A lot of fake accounts too were created in her name. Through an Instagram post, Deepika revealed the moment when she was spotted in the IPL and what it has led to her ever since. "My identity, privacy and life have been hacked in an instant. A lot of the overnight followers are men who have used this platform to be crude, vulgar, vicious & entirely disrespectful," reads part of her long heartbreaking note. She added that she will turn her fame into something more genuine, fabulous and meaningful. "Yes, I am #theRCBgirl but I am SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT," Deepika ended the post.
