It is an Olympics like no other! Many things are different this year and the officials have tried their best to keep the environment safe and visually enjoyable at the same time. With no spectators, Tokyo Olympics 2020 has begun. But how is it like for the athletes? Well, they have an idiosyncratic Olympic Village. It is a place for players to prepare for their events, eat, sleep and pass the time when they are not competing. In 2020, competitors couldn't be any better hosted than inside the village. Located at the picturesque Harumi waterfront district of Tokyo, the village is surrounded by the sea, which allows for stunning views. Let us take a virtual tour to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 athletes' village plaza.
The size of the village is quite huge, reportedly 44 hectares. There is an internal shuttle bus service. The vehicles are electric and driverless and there will be an operator to monitor the same.
This is how the athletes' room at the village plaza of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic village looks like. The rooms are equipped with beds, disposable cardboard frames spartan furnishings.
The most controversial of all, the recyclable cardboard beds created quite a drama ahead of the games. There have been a lot of tongue and cheek comments about whether the cardboard beds are meant to prevent intimacy. Well, that's not the case! The idea behind the constructions was to be sustainable.
A recreation center is also created at the multi-function complex for athletes to relax when not playing or practising.
