Filmmakers from around the world have produced some of the most memorable sports biopics over the years. Be it, Farhan Akhtar as Milkha Singh or Will Smith as boxer Muhammad Ali, filmmakers have often captured lives of our favourite athletes on the silver screen. While we've watched most of these films, many are still under production. Ranveer Singh's picture from ''83', wherein he is seen impersonating Kapil Dev's iconic 'Natraj shot' has been doing the rounds on the internet. Kapil Dev commented on the picture saying, "very impressive." Several other Bollywood actors praised Ranveer's look in the much-awaited film. Apart from cricketer Kapil Dev, two other famous female cricketers have biopics lined up. Taapsee Pannu is all set to feature as former captain of the Indian women's cricket team Mithali Raj in 'Shabaash Mithu' and Anushka Sharma will portray the character of Jhulan Goswami, who was the captain of the women's cricket team before Mithali Raj. Taapsee Pannu will portray the role of the former captain of the Indian women's cricket team Mithali Raj in upcoming biopic 'Shabaash Mithu'. She shared the first look on social media and wrote, “I have always been asked who’s your favourite male cricketer but you should ask them who their favourite female cricketer is.” The statement that made every cricket lover pause and introspect that do they love the game or the gender playing it. @M_Raj03 you are a ‘Game Changer’.”

Anushka Sharma's pictures from Eden Gardens in January 2020 went viral on social media. She is seen walking with former captain of the Indian women's cricket team Jhulan Goswami. Prior to the pandemic, Anushka's film titled 'Chakdah Express' was slated for release in 2021.
