The Parsi community in India has left an everlasting mark through its rich cultural past and industrial revolution. However, this Parsi from Surat in Gujarat state has carved a niche for himself in the world of martial arts and fitness.
Vispy Jimmy Kharadi, 42, a fitness and martial arts instructor based in Surat, holds 7 Guinness World Records in martial arts feats. His speciality is bending most iron rods with the neck in 1 minute, bearing weight from 942 kgs to 1,400 kgs on the layers of human and nail bed sandwiches and the most watermelons cut on the stomach with a Japanese Katana sword.
Under the ‘SurakshaSetu’ initiative of the Gujarat Government, Vispy has been conducting self-defense camps for women in Surat and across the state free of cost. He is the official trainer of the Border Security Force (BSF) in armed and unarmed combat (Krav Maga). Also, he trains the police personnel of Surat & other districts of Gujarat. He gives VVIP protection to international delegates, looks after disaster management of the country’s Ace events & also designs securities for various national & international shows.
Vispy and his teammate were the first Indians to be invited on the world’s most popular reality TV show ‘America's Got Talent', and were ranked top among the most dangerous acts of the season.
Vispy runs the Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s Women Self Defense center at Surat. Apart from martial arts and fitness, he (Vispy) acted with Akshay Kumar in the film ‘Brothers’ and choreographed a fight sequence in the same movie. He also acted with and trained Taapsee Pannu in the movie ‘Naam Shabana’
