The SUV is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a new 2.2/2.0L turbocharged diesel engine. While the former is capable of producing 190bhp and 330Nm of torque, the oil burner is likely to produce around 180bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer. Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive system will be on offer.

Honda has officially announced to launch an all-new hybrid car in the Indian market in 2021. The new model is most likely to be the new City hybrid, The City e:HEV comes equipped with Honda’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (I-MMD) hybrid system, which comprises of 108PS/253Nm electric motor that drives the wheels. It features a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 98PS between 5,600 to 6,400rpm and 127Nm between 4,500 and 5,000rpm, along with an integrated electric motor acting as a generator and a starter. The new model is expected to be priced around Rs 18-20 lakh.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is expected to be launched in our market by mid-2021 and could cost around Rs 60 lakh. It is based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture), It measures 4,600mm in length, 1,855mm in width, and 1,685mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,690mm. The Toyota RAV4 in India will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain. It is likely to receive the 218bhp version of the 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with a strong hybrid system. There is a motor/generator mounted on the rear axle, which allows the hybrid powertrain to drive power to all-4 wheels. It offers up to 80% of the torque to the rear wheels.

The 2021 Nissan Kicks gets four-wheel disc brakes as standard along with Nissan Safety Shield 260 advance driver-assist systems (ADAS). The ADAS system includes Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection. Lane Departure Warning, Blind-Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking.

The SUV gets TCS (Traction Control System), Vehicle Dynamic Control, HSA (Hill Start Assist), and ABS as standard. Kicks offers a standard Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamic Control and Hill Start Assist, front disc/rear drum Anti-lock Braking System (S grade) and electric power steering. Kicks SV and SR grades add new rear disc brakes. The SUV also gets 10 airbags, Intelligent driver alertness and rear door alert.

The Renault Kiger, which is scheduled to launch in early 2021, with an estimated price of Rs 5.50 Lakh will mark the carmaker’s entry into the subcompact SUV segment. Based on the Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, its production model will stay 80% true to its concept in terms of design. Similar to the newly-launched Nissan Magnite, the Kiger will come with naturally-aspirated and turbocharged version of the 1.0L petrol engine. Both manual and CVT gearboxes will be on offer.
