The crowd kept coming in. The music got louder. Celebrities and special guests walked in one by one. And the Indian boxers, well most of them, kept winning. That was the Night of Champions for you.

The Indian boxers, majority of whom were unknown names, were cheered on endlessly. Their nationality made them the obvious favourites of the crowd here at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex. They whistled, cheered and clapped as the Indian boxers demolished their opponents one by one, all the while eagerly waiting to witness what they had come for.

Off to a cautious start, Vijender took some time to measure up his opponent while ducking a few punches. He was searching for that narrow gap between Cheka's right hand and his head. Thanks to his longer reach, he managed to land a couple of jabs on Cheka, who started as the aggressor. Settled by the second round, Vijender's right hand landed straight on Cheka's right cheek, prompting Vijender to up the tempo. Mocking Cheka, Vijender stopped for a second and stomped his feet, as if asking him how the blow felt. It was all over by the two minute mark (1:56) in Round 3 when Vijender `s hard right hand hit Cheka's cheek.
