Vikas Thakur strikes weightlifting silver medal at CWG 2022, see pictures from winning moment

Indian heavyweight lifter Vikas Thakur added yet another Commonwealth Games medal to his kitty, winning a silver in the men's 96kg at Birmingham. He lifted a total of 346kg (155kg+191kg) to finish second. Post the win, he took to social media and wrote a heartwarming note, "This feels surreal. Representing a billion dreams in one of the largest sports event and bag SILVER 🥈 feels nothing less than a dream. A 346 kg lift at CWG’22 would not have been possible without all of you backing me up. 💯 There is no greater pride than to see your nations flag rise high!" With him, the Indian weightlifting contingent have now eight medals at the ongoing CWG. Medals at Commonwealth Games are a common phenomenon Thakur. In 2014, he won a silver and in 2018, he won bronze. India has so far won 13 medals with five gold, five silver and three bronze and is currently placed sixth in the CWG 2022 medals tally.
