'Deeyarvatu' is an age-old tradition that encourages a woman to marry her brother-in-law (Devar) after the death of her husband. Gulaal had to make a decision whether to leave Talsagra as a widow after her husband Vasantji's death or stay back to protect Vasantji's youngest brother Kesarji from negative characters in the family, who are waiting to usurp the property after her husband's death.
